Underserved communities in particular still have trouble accessing the capital they need to achieve their dreams. SBA Kentucky Success Stories More Than a Restaurant: The Café Is Creating Jobs and Helping Refugees | | Sal and Cindy Rubino, owners of The Café Restaurant in Louisville. The Café received an SBA 504 loan for $445,000 to provide long-term, fixed financing to purchase equipment and relocate a restaurant to an older building on the edge of | downtown Louisville, KY. The restaurant had been located about a mile away in an antique mall for 12 years. "We absolutely could not have pulled this off without the help of the SBA and the bank" said Sal Rubino. "The loan officer at the bank along with folks at the Certified Development Company (CDC) completely walked us through the process of obtaining the SBA loan. SBA Recently Eased Key Loan Requirements Effective July 1, 2014, SBA lenders no longer have to perform an analysis of cash flow or debt-service coverage on loans of $350,000 or less, eliminating two requirements. Using the new SBA scoring tool, banks are now incentivized to underwrite more small-dollar loans and reduce the time needed to originate a small-dollar loan by as much as 50%. On July 11, SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet joined President Obama at the White House to announce the launch of SupplierPay. It's a new project dedicated to giving America's entrepreneurs access to affordable, consistent working capital.
